Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek - 07 Day(s)

Ghorepani is a village in Myagdi District in the Dhawalagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal at an elevation of approximately 2874m (9429ft). The village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and contains a number of "guest houses" that provide comfortable lodging and delicious meals to mountain trekkers. At the time of the pre-dawn trekkers goes to the top of nearby Poon Hill (3210m/10531ft) to watch beautiful view of the sunrise.

Ghorepani trek is the short, colorful and relatively easy trek which takes place in the western part of Kathmandu into the Annapurna region. It is one of the most popular trekking destination which offers impressive and natural scenery, marvelous views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Himchuli. That place is used to be a rest place for an ancient trader where they found water ‘pani’ (in Nepali) for their horses’ghoda’ (in Nepali), thus leading to the nomenclature as Ghorepani.

Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as the Annapurna Base Camp. From the South-East direction, it takes 10 hours to Reach by foot from the village of Birethanti with trekkers. However, many trekkers prefer to overnight at one of the lower villages on their way to Ghorepani because of covering the distance over two days owing to the steepness of the trail, the increase in altitude and the beauty of the natural surroundings. From the North-West direction, Ghorepani can be reached in about 8 - 10 hours starting from Tatopani, Myagdi. This trail passes through the villages of Shikha, Dana and Chitre.
