Makalu is another famous mountain as the fifth highest mountain in the world which is first mapped and photographed from the tibetan side in 1921 by the British Everest reconnaissance. This beautiful, impressive and massive mountain is situated just 14 miles east of Everest and between Mt. Everest and Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is 20 km east of Everest in the Khumbu region. This mountain looks like a pyramid with four sharp ridges from a distance. It is extremely difficult to climb and expedition the peak. Due to its dark brooding appearance the mountain is called Makalu in Nepali landguage which means “the Great Black One”.The first attempt was made in 1954 by an American Team and scaled it by the French Team in 1955. It is about 27,765 feet (8,463 meters).
